How do you fix an office chair that has sunk below the wheels?
This is going to be hard to describe, but its your basic office chair on wheels. The problem is, the “pole” that the actual chair part sits on and controls the height of the chair(at least between the wheels and the chair) has sunk BELOW the wheels.
So instead of gliding around like i used to, the chair now has the “pole” dragging around the floor.
The height lever is useless because that just expands and contracts the pole(s) between the wheels and the chair. The problem is beneath the wheels.
I was thinking about taking a hammer to it upside down and just pound it back into “place”. But before I nearly destroy my chair, I thought I’d ask you all.

Get a big hammer. If I understand your problem correctly, I don’t believe it’s going to be worth repairing and you have nothing to lose by whackin’ on it with a hammer.
Since people sit at computers so much at home nowadays, and the “Home Office” has become so popular the market has been flooded with cheap “task chairs”. In the last few years I’ve seen every single component of a chair fail in one way or another; from the back rest to the casters. I don’t think your “fix” is going to last but at least you might get some of your frustrations out.
