What is the best fishing line for walleye?(Brand and Size)?

I am fishing for walleye in canada straight down from the boat in about 10-20 feet of water,just  a splitshot and octopus hook  with a minnow or worm on the end of the line.If we can not find the fish we troll and  drag some buttom bouncers behind the boat. I could have extra reels for that sort of fishing.The walley are not too big we might catch a couple of 5 lb fish in two weeks but everything else is smaler.Can anybody tell me what would be the best fishing line to use under these circumstances?Brand?Size?Thanks in advance for your help.

I am very picky about my lines. I use 12lb Trilene XL for trolling and casting cranks.

Everything else I use 8 lb Trilene XT, that includes jigging, lindy rigging, slip floating etc.

don’t worry I caught a 70 lb sturgeon on the 8lb line so it won’t break off easily.
